Single in L.A.

I fall victim too. L.A. people are widely known for pretending to detest things that are “so L.A.” or “so Hollywood.” And in actuality, subconsciously or not, they epitomize the very things they claim to detest in others. Maybe to make us more relatable? I don’t know. But, I’m guilty too. As such I have a tendency, in my real life (not the fake one I portray during the 9-5 hours) to be fashion slave as many Angelenos are. It’s like film and fashion go hand in hand. Essentially most of the buzz surrounding “Sex and the City” (both film and cable series) is related to Pat Fields costume designing magic.

So I do have a tendency to follow what’s going on currently and what went on historically with the major fashion houses: Yves Saint Laurent being one of them.

So imagine how I must feel today. Imagine, also, that the cost of the already pricey, but many times WORTH IT, handbags, sunglasses and other haute couture items are going to sky rocket!

Be still my heart! Those were my first thoughts When I received word via Twitter last night that legendary fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent had passed I was beyond shocked. Death is a part of life, but the news is never easy to handle.

Likened in talent and historical relevance in the fashion industry to icons such as Coco Chanel and Christian Dior, Yves’ passing marks the end of an era.

Yves Saint Laurent: August 1 1936 – June 1, 2008.
