Out With the Old

Published by hauteness at 12:42 pm under Dating, relationships Edit This

And in with the new.  Year that is!  When the new year rolls around most people begin to get all types of introspective.  Regretting the past years mistakes, looking forward to the new “better” year ahead.

Happy New Year

I spent much of December reassessing my goals.  Not so much because of the pending arrival of 2009, but mostly because I’m anal that way.  Though I’m always grateful to be in a good place, “right now” is never good enough.  I am forever looking ahead, making lists, planning – likely too much of that.  I realized in December that my lists have been nearly identical for months – too much listing and not enough doing.

So my New Year’s resolution is just that.  To just DO more – and list less. There’s too many men for me to date, books to write, stories to tell, films to create… I had lots of time to come up with that since I’ve been sick for the past few days and celebrated in bed last night.:-(

What about you?  Any quirky resolutions made (with little plans to keeps them?)

Mine should be not to check email, text messages and the like while driving; I’m really bad about that.

I think that planning is very essential to success. I don’t think that you were planning too much, but I think that some things on the list probably weren’t priority items and your mind recognized them as such.

That’s the beauty of planning and writing the vision down and making it plain; your mind gets a chance to preview it. Proverbs 16:9 states that, ” The heart of man plans his way, but the LORD establishes his steps.” The steps to accomplishing the vision you had set forth are still being established and ordered.

I know the frustration, however, of being ready to do things and not doing them. Once you are able to accomplish though, you’ll look back at this moment and be thankful that things hadn’t materialized any sooner!

I enjoyed your New Year’s blog post. I am going to continue to be open and practice self-care.

I quit making resolutions when I turned 30(a few years ago). I have goals now. One was to lose 12 lbs and I have already lost 3. YAY. Another is to write more and get paid for it. I have been more aggressive in finding work in design and writing. I speak NY Spanish but I really want to be fluent as I am looking at my Rosetta box right now. I installed the software already - I just need to carve out time for the lessons. That’s it.

I do hope you write more because I love to read about LA and you take on it.
